Writing Music is an experience that many people enjoy because it is relaxing and inspirational. If you feel stressed while writing music, you are robbing yourself of an opportunity to feel creative and inspired. Here are a few tips that will make your music writing experience more enjoyable and stress-free.
- Part of the reason that you may be having difficulties writing music is because you aren’t inspired by anything at the moment. You can draw inspiration from a plethora of things in life including nature, relationships, other music, current events, experiences, people, and much more. Use elements of your life to find inspiration.
- There is never a wrong answer when writing music. You may find that some melodies and riffs are catchier than others, but that doesn't mean that less catchy ones are wrong or bad. Feel free to revise and improve your music, but never feel like what you did was wrong. Keeping this in mind will also prevent you from running into writers block. If you believe that what you are creating is wrong or bad, then you won't trust yourself, and you will find it difficult to write music.
- Make sure that you are having fun throughout the entire process. If you find yourself struggling or not enjoying yourself for reasons not related to stress, stop what you are doing and come back to your music later. Your songwriting will be better when you are having fun.
