Essential Accessories You Need
Here is a list of the essential accessories you need when you go fly fishing.
- Clippers or nippers, don’t go without them. You need it for cutting the tail end of knots, etc.
- Polarized sunglasses are a “must” when you go fly fishing. It helps you to protect your eyes from the glare of the sun on the water, and it also helps to spot fish easily.
- Get a good Zinger to hold your hemostat and nippers. A hemostat is a forceps or clamp used by anglers to remove flies from the mouth of the fish. It is also used to pinch down the barb on the hook. It is an essential tool and you don’t want to go fly fishing without it.
- Nail knot tool, fly floatant, and extra packages of tapered leaders to replaced worn or knotted leaders.
- There are a couple of extras you might want to get when you go fly fishing. They are:
- Fly fishing vest – the vest has a pocket for every fly box and is a great add-on when you go fishing. The vest will let you carry all the tools you need without having to come out of the water to get them. Alternatively, you might want to get a waist pack or a chest pack to hold your fly box and other extra tools.
- Non-slip devices – It’s not “cool” to fall in the water while you are fishing. If the current is strong, falling in the water could be dangerous. You will need to wade safely, and items like a wading staff, or goat head spikes will help you wade in slippery places with confidence.
